In an exclusive interview with ifilm, Iranian actor Abbas Ghazali talks about his acting career.
Abbas Ghazali is one of those actors rarely seen in cinematic works set in an apartment building. Rather, he has appeared in many location shooting movies and series. He gained a great deal of fame by starring in ‘Code White’.
Below is a rough translation of selected parts from the interview conducted by ifilm in Persian:
Ghazali: Like I always say, playing in the ‘Code White series was a pinniacle in my artistic career and I can tell you that it was one of the best works done by me. The series was really memorable and the director of the series Mr. Nematollahi was a key to the project success.
Playing my role in the series was a really challenging job as the character of ‘Behrouz’ had to be lively as well as fundamental in the project. I event lost part of my hair for featuring in the series since I had to dye my hair to play the role. I am, in retrospect, happy to have been part of the Nematollahi’s project.
After appearing in this series, I got more than 200 offers to repeat my ‘Behrouz’ role. I did not accept any of such offers as I hate looking like a clichéd actor.
I am very particular about choosing my roles in cinema and ‘Scissors’ was one of the movies I appeared in since I liked its screenplay. It was different as you run into a story in which a man murders someone with a pair of ‘Scissors’.
As for my preference between Television or cinema, I should say that I value both of them at the same level and either way works for me. However, I entered the realm of acting by appearing on Television products. I still feel indebted to Television.
